Privacy Policy

This website is run by Plymouth Comedy Festival (“we”, “us”). We decide how personal information collected through this site is used.

We have not published a company registration number, postal address or named data protection officer. For privacy enquiries, to exercise your data-protection rights, or to withdraw mailing-list consent, email hello@plymouthcomedyfestival.com.

The public website currently collects personal information only if you join the mailing list.

When you sign up we store:

• the email address you enter
• the date and time you consented
• where you signed up from (for example, the homepage)
• that the signup was an explicit mailing-list opt-in
• the version of this privacy notice that applied at the time (2026-08-prelaunch)

We do not ask for your name, postal address, telephone number, date of birth, or payment details through this website. Ticket purchases, if you make them, happen on TicketCove and are not collected by this mailing-list form.

If you open a festival campaign link (a web address that includes a ref code), we may record that this campaign page was opened. That record is the campaign identifier, the page path and the time. We do not store your IP address, name, email, device fingerprint or customer identity for this. This landing record does not use a cookie and can happen whether or not you allow optional measurement.

If you choose Allow measurement, we may also remember that campaign for the rest of this browser session so we can understand which festival promotions lead to ticket selections and sales. That memory is a first-party session cookie containing only the campaign’s public code. It is not a name, email, or database identifier. If you decline, we do not write that campaign cookie, and the campaign is not remembered once it is no longer in the page address. You can change this choice later through Measurement settings in the footer. Changing your mind does not delete the anonymous campaign landing counts already stored.

If you are a festival administrator, we also hold the login details needed for the private admin area. That is separate from the public mailing list.

We use mailing-list email addresses to send Plymouth Comedy Festival news and updates. That includes programme and line-up announcements, ticket information, and other festival news.

Campaign landing counts and, if you allow it, session campaign memory are used to understand which festival promotions lead to ticket selections and sales. TicketCove conversion reporting is not part of this website today.

We have not yet started sending those emails. Signing up now means we may email you once the festival begins sending updates. We will not use your address for unrelated marketing.

We rely on your consent to send you festival emails. The checkbox on the signup form starts unticked. We only add you to the list if you tick it yourself and submit the form.

Optional measurement is a separate choice. The Allow measurement control starts unticked. Continuing to browse, closing the notice, or opening a campaign link is not treated as permission to remember a campaign in your browser.

You can withdraw that consent at any time by emailing hello@plymouthcomedyfestival.com. Withdrawing consent does not affect anything we did while your consent was in place.

Mailing-list records are stored in the festival’s own database, hosted in Ireland (West EU). They are not stored on TicketCove. Subscriber details are not shown on the public website.

Festival administrators who are authorised to manage the site can view the list and export email, signup date and source as a spreadsheet for festival use.

We use specialist hosting and database services to keep the website and mailing list running. Those providers process information only to provide those services to us.

We do not sell personal information.

We do not send mailing-list subscriber details to TicketCove. This website and TicketCove are separate. Following a “Get Tickets” link takes you to TicketCove under its own terms and privacy notice.

We do not currently pass subscriber details to an external email platform. If we later use one to send festival emails, we will update this notice first.

The mailing-list database is hosted in Ireland (West EU). Ireland is in the European Economic Area.

The specialist companies we use to host and run this website may still process limited information outside the United Kingdom or the EEA under their contracts with us — for example to operate, secure or support those services. That does not include sending mailing-list details to TicketCove.

We keep your email on the mailing list while you remain a subscriber and we still have a reason to send you festival updates.

If you withdraw consent, we will stop using your email for marketing. Email hello@plymouthcomedyfestival.com to opt out. We may later keep a minimal record (for example, that this address asked not to be contacted) so you are not emailed again by mistake. We have not yet built an automated unsubscribe or suppression tool.

Under UK data protection law you can ask us to:

• stop sending you marketing emails (withdraw consent)
• tell you what personal information we hold about you
• correct information that is wrong or incomplete
• delete your information where that applies
• restrict or object to certain uses of your information

You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK regulator for data protection: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.

The public website does not use advertising cookies, Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or other third-party audience-measurement tools. Declining optional measurement does not stop you using the website.

Opening a campaign link may still create the first-party campaign landing record described above. That does not use a cookie.

If you make a measurement choice, we store a first-party cookie named pcf_measurement with the value allow or decline. That cookie remembers your choice so we do not ask on every page. It lasts up to 180 days.

If you allow measurement and there is a valid festival campaign to remember, we also set a first-party session cookie named pcf_campaign. It contains only the campaign’s public code. It has no Expires or Max-Age value, so it ends when you close the browser session. We do not use local storage, fingerprinting, IP address or customer identity for this memory.

You can change the measurement choice later through Measurement settings in the footer. If you later decline, the campaign session cookie is removed at once.

If you sign in to the private administrator area, we use a session cookie so you can stay logged in. That cookie is only for running the admin tools. Ordinary visitors are not asked to sign in, and this is not used to advertise to you.

What’s On event listings may include a link to buy tickets on TicketCove. TicketCove is a separate service. If you follow that link, TicketCove’s own privacy notice applies to anything you do there. This notice does not cover TicketCove.

Other external links we add later will also have their own privacy arrangements.

We may update this notice as the website changes. The current version is always the one on this page.
