Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Plymouth Comedy Festival, from how our multi-venue festival works to tickets, venues and planning your weekend.

About the Festival

What is Plymouth Comedy Festival?

Plymouth Comedy Festival is a multi-venue comedy festival taking place across the city, bringing together stand-up, live shows, special events and more for one huge weekend of comedy.

Rather than everything happening in one building or behind one festival gate, shows take place at venues across Plymouth. You choose what you want to see and build your own festival experience.

When is Plymouth Comedy Festival?

The first Plymouth Comedy Festival takes place from Friday 5 to Sunday 7 February 2027.

Where does the festival take place?

Across Plymouth. Shows take place at a range of venues around the city, from established performance spaces to smaller and more unusual locations.

Every show listing includes its venue, so you’ll know exactly where you need to be before booking.

How does the festival work?

Think of Plymouth Comedy Festival as a weekend-long programme of individual comedy shows rather than one single event.

Browse the programme, choose the shows you want to see and buy tickets for each show individually. You can come along for one performance, spend an entire day hopping between shows, or make a full weekend of it.

Do I need a festival ticket or wristband?

No. You don’t need a general festival ticket or wristband to take part.

Shows are individually ticketed, so you simply buy tickets for the performances you want to see.

Can I see more than one show?

Absolutely — that’s a big part of the festival.

Shows take place throughout the weekend across multiple venues, so you can build your own schedule and see as much comedy as you like.

When booking back-to-back shows, check the doors, start and end times and venues, and allow enough time to travel between locations.

Tickets & Shows

Where do I buy tickets?

All Plymouth Comedy Festival tickets are purchased online through our box office.

Choose the show you want to see from the festival programme and follow the Get Tickets link.

Tickets are not sold for cash at festival venues.

Can I buy tickets on the day?

Yes, if tickets are still available.

All tickets must still be purchased through the Plymouth Comedy Festival online box office, including on the day of the show.

Plymouth Comedy Festival is cashless, so tickets cannot be purchased with cash at the venue.

How much are tickets?

Ticket prices vary from show to show and are clearly displayed on each show listing and before you book.

There will be shows at a range of prices across the festival weekend.

Are there booking fees?

Any applicable booking fees are shown clearly during the booking process by our ticketing provider, TicketCove, before you complete your purchase.

Will shows sell out?

Some probably will. Venue capacities vary considerably across the festival and some of our smallest shows have very limited availability.

If there’s something you particularly want to see, we recommend booking in advance.

Are seats reserved?

Unless specifically stated otherwise on the individual show listing, Plymouth Comedy Festival shows use unreserved seating.

If a particular show operates differently, this will be made clear when booking.

What time do doors open?

For most shows, doors open approximately 30 minutes before the advertised show start time.

Always check the individual show listing, which will show the doors time, start time and end time for that particular performance.

Show-specific information takes precedence over this general guidance.

What happens if two shows I want to see overlap?

Because multiple shows happen simultaneously across the city, there will inevitably be some clashes.

Every show listing includes its doors time, start time, end time and venue. Check these when planning your festival and allow enough time to travel between venues when booking consecutive shows.

What happens if a comedian or line-up changes?

Festival programmes and line-ups can occasionally change. Where a show features multiple performers, individual line-ups are subject to change without penalty or refund.

If a show itself is cancelled, affected ticket holders will be contacted.

Can I get a refund or exchange my ticket?

Tickets are non-refundable unless the show is cancelled, subject to your statutory rights.

If a show is cancelled, affected ticket holders will be contacted with the relevant information.

Planning Your Festival

How do I plan which shows to see?

Browse the programme and create your own festival schedule based on the comedians, times and venues that suit you.

Every show listing includes the doors time, start time, end time and venue to help you plan.

You can come for one show, an afternoon, an evening or build an entire weekend of comedy.

How much time should I leave between shows?

This depends on the venues you’re travelling between.

Many festival locations are within Plymouth city centre and surrounding areas, but they’re not all in the same place. Check the venue and end/start times before booking consecutive shows and leave yourself comfortable travelling time.

How do I get between venues?

Many festival venues are within walking distance of one another, while others may require a short journey.

Check the location of each venue when planning your schedule and plan your route before setting off for your next show.

Is everything within walking distance?

Not necessarily. A large part of the programme is concentrated around central Plymouth, but Plymouth Comedy Festival is a city-wide event.

Always check the venue for each show when planning your schedule.

Where can I park?

Parking options vary depending on the venue you’re attending.

Check the relevant venue information and plan your journey before travelling.

I’m travelling to Plymouth. Where should I stay?

Plymouth has a wide range of hotels and accommodation within easy reach of festival venues.

Venues & Accessibility

Are the venues accessible?

Accessibility information will be provided for participating venues.

If you have specific access requirements and can’t find the information you need, contact us before booking and we’ll help with information about the relevant venue wherever possible.

I have specific access requirements. Who should I contact?

Ages & Families

Please check the individual show listing before booking, particularly if you’re bringing anyone under 18.

Comedy performances may contain strong language or adult themes unless otherwise stated.

Can children come to the festival?

Yes, where the individual show and venue permit it.

Some festival events may be suitable for younger audiences, while others will have age restrictions or adult content.

Always check the age information on the individual show before purchasing tickets for someone under 18.

Can I buy food and drink at festival venues?

Facilities vary by venue. Many participating venues have bars, cafés or refreshments available, while others do not.
